Topic: Unsealed Asphalt Shingles (1hr)
Unsealed Asphalt Shingles focuses on the design and function of sealant strips on composition shingles. Attendees learn the installation and sealing process, as well as how proper installation can help a roof resist weathering forces. We will identify three reasons why shingles do not seal and/or become un-bonded, the areas of a roof that are prone to wind damage, and the identifying characteristics of wind-damaged shingles. We will also differentiate the effects of wind from other issues caused by manufacturing, installation, or weathering.
