Built-Up Roofs Damage Assessment (2 Hrs)


Built-Up Roofs Damage Assessment introduces participants to the basic components of today’s built-up roofing systems, alerting them to problems that can arise during manufacture and installation and providing a basic overview of maintenance and repairs.  The course further addresses the identifying characteristics of hail, wind and mechanical damage to built-up roofing, analyzing the differences between cosmetic damage and damage that affects a system’s water-shedding ability.

California Earthquake Adjuster Certification (3.5 Hrs)

In order for you to work earthquake claims in CA, the California Department of Insurance requires you to undergo earthquake claims policy training and to renew this training at least once every three years.  This 3.5-hour course meets the California requirement for adjuster accreditation under California Department of Insurance Regulations CCR – Title 10, Section 2695.41.  You’ll learn how personal lines earthquake policies are set up in California.  The course also provides you with an overview of related regulations (such as the California Fair Claims Settlement Practices Act and CUREE Guidelines for handling inspections after an earthquake) and the earthquake mediation program, SBA and FEMA.  Examples of coverage scenarios are used to explore the application of the Basic CEA Homeowners policy.  Further, the course covers earthquake damage assessment from an engineering point of view, including a study of the causes of earthquakes, the meaning of various measurements, and how to identify damage caused by an earthquake versus conditions caused by other factors.

Through this 2-hour course, you will explore how to differentiate the membrane types through the study of their characteristics, capabilities, and installation details. From this foundation, you will learn to identify weathering issues specific to each membrane type, along with characteristics of hail and wind damage for the purpose of damage assessment. After a hurricane, there are a multitude of discussions regarding whether the damage to a building was caused by wind or by water. Typically, this determination is critical because of insurance coverage issues. This course explains the characteristics of hurricanes and the process experts use to determine the cause of damage where there was both significant wind and water action. Arkansas: a proctor must be present when you take the course test final. To receive your credit, you must download the appropriate form (click here), fill it out completely with your chosen test proctor (signatures are required), and email it to CE@HaagGlobal.com with subject line "Arkansas Online CE Request".  We will reply by email with further instructions.

Delaware and North Carolina: Resident Licenses only

Florida: Courses are not approved for Public Adjuster Continuing Education Credit

*Canadian Provinces: Upon your successful completion of each online course with a Canadian approval, please email please email our CE Coordinator, at  CE@HaagGlobal.com to provide your name and license number (if applicable).  After confirming your successful completion of the course, we will mail you a copy of your certificate of completion to submit to the appropriate council for credit.

^Texas: a minimum of 50% of your continuing education credit must come from classroom or classroom-equivalent courses. You will not receive continuing education credit from TX for additional self-study courses beyond 50% of your total required hours.  Please be advised that all of Haag's online classes are considered  self-study, NOT classroom or classroom-equivalent.
